One
of the most scenic drives in Kerr County follows both
forks of the Guadalupe River trail. Not only will
you enjoy a panorama of natural beauty, you'll have
the opportunity to visit many quaint antique stores
and shops, a country store, and see a wide variety
of gracious country homes along the way. The South
Fork drive begins in Ingram on Hwy 39 and travels
west, in twisting, up-and-down fashion to Hunt. At
times, the road becomes a tunnel among giant oaks
and cypress. You will pass many private camps and
homes built of native limestone, obviously designed
for the full enjoyment of nature. Stay on Hwy 39 past
Hunt where the South Fork of the Guadalupe crisscrosses
the road numerous times under low water bridges. At
the intersection with Hwy 83 turn right and stay on
Hwy 83 until it intersects with Hwy 41. Turn right
on Hwy 41 to the intersection of FM 1340. Turn right
on FM 1340 back to Hwy 39 in Hunt. The drive along
FM 1340 is picturesque as it crisscrosses the North
Fork of the Guadalupe River. This drive covers approximately
75 miles.
